This video shows you how to start your STIHL brushcutter correctly and safely.
Cordless brushcutter (e.g. FSA 80)
Hold the brushcutter with your right hand on the operating handle so your thumb encloses the grip point (2) of the operating handle.
Hold the brushcutter with your left hand on the hand grip so your thumb encloses the hand grip.
Press and hold the ergo lever (1) with your hand. Then press the unlock button (4).
Now press the control lever (3) with your index finger and hold it down. The brushcutter speeds up and the cutting tool turns.
-> The further the control lever (3) is pressed, the faster the cutting tool turns.
Petrol brushcutter (e.g. FS 38)
Move the stop switch (1) to position I. Now hold down the throttle lever lock (2).
Then squeeze the throttle lever until the catch (5) on the tongue (4) can be engaged on the housing.
Now release the throttle lever, tongue and throttle lever lock one after the other à starting throttle position
Petrol brushcutter with ErgoStart (e.g. FS 261 /461 C-E)
Press the fuel pump (1) at least five times.
If the engine has already reached ambient temperature: press in the choke lever (2) at the edge and set it to position A. If the engine has been running for at least one minute and has only been switched off for a short break OR if the engine has fired in position A and stopped, set it to position B and press in the choke lever (2) at the edge.
Now press the brushcutter to the ground with your left hand.
Slowly pull out the starter handle with your right hand to the point of noticeable resistance. Quickly pull out the starter handle and return it until the engine starts.
Briefly press the throttle lever lock (3) and throttle lever (4). The choke lever (2) jumps into position. The engine is idling.
If the engine is cold: warm up the engine with throttle bursts. If the cutting tool is also running at idle speed: fix the faults. Idle is not set correctly.
If the engine stops in position A or when throttle is applied: move the choke lever (2) to the position and try to start the engine again.
If the engine does not start in this position, move the choke lever (2) to the position and try to start the engine again.
If the engine is flooded, try to start the engine again with the choke lever (2) in position.
