Note: Before you prepare your STIHL product for use, put it into operation, clean, transport, store, maintain, repair, troubleshoot or dispose of it, please read the instruction manual carefully. The instruction manual contains safety instructions and supports you in using your STIHL product in a safe and environmentally friendly manner over a long service life.

STIHL is committed to sustainability and protecting the environment. At the same time, as a manufacturer of power tools for garden and landscape maintenance we attach great importance to offering users the right tool for every task and every setting.

With our service network of specialist dealers, we offer the customer the opportunity to receive expert advice and instruction on proper tool handling before purchasing the product. The operating instructions also contain explicit instructions on the correct way to use our products. For the iMOW®, among other things this means checking the area to be mown for animals in advance and keeping them out of the area of risk. The user should therefore check the work area for the presence of hedgehogs and other small animals, for example using a wildlife camera.

The risk of danger to hedgehogs and other small animals cannot be ruled out completely despite these precautions, but rather should be further reduced through additional preventative measures.
Hedgehogs and other small animals are crepuscular and nocturnal animals.  The risk of injuring hedgehogs is significantly reduced if you only have your robotic mower work during the day. Make sure that the active times of your iMOW® robotic mower do not take place during twilight or at night. In this way you can make an active contribution to animal welfare.

Hedgehogs are crepuscular and nocturnal animals. If you have programmed your robotic mower to mow mainly during twilight hours or even at night, the chances of the robotic mower and hedgehog meeting are particularly high. During the day, on the other hand, hedgehogs are rarely ever out and about in the garden.

Therefore, the best way to protect the hedgehog from the robotic mower is to program the robotic mower to mow at different times during the day. If, for example, the robotic mower does not start work until 10 o'clock, the hedgehog will usually have already disappeared into his safe den. The exact time depends on the season, of course.

In the evening, when it gets dark, the robotic mower should also return to its charging station so that when the hedgehog comes out it does not get under the robotic mower.
