Important Service Information 09/2024 – iMOW 5/6/7 SW-Update

General:
The rollout of the Autumn Update 8.5.9 was stopped (07.11.2024 / 12:30 (CET)) due to problems, which could lead to the iMOW not starting anymore (details see below).
The currently available versions via SDS 2.0 are now 7.9.21 for iMOW 5/6/7 & iMOW 5/6/7 EVO and 7.9.7 iMOW 7 Pro.
For all SDS 2.0 users who use the Field Service Mode of SDS 2.0 this means that they have to deactivate the Field Service Mode manually, otherwise version 8.5.9 will be available for activation for another 5 days. After deactivating the Field Service Mode, it can be reactivated and new correct software updates for the offline use case will be downloaded.
We are working hard to find a solution. According to our current estimate, it will take about 2-3 weeks until a new version is available. Further information will be provided as soon as we have a more reliable date.


Problem description
Please consider that the problem is not immediately visible, because it might occur after a reboot. However, it is expected that only a small amount of the 600 mowers worldwide with 8.5.9 will be affected. Therefore, if the updated mower is in successful customer use for more than two days, no further action is required.

Error pattern:
iMOW permanently displays white running light on LED backstripe and cannot be operated

Instructions for action (end customer):
Pull iMOW out of the docking station and contact specialised dealer

Instructions for action (specialist dealer):
  1. Connect iMOW to charging adapter or docking station & start diagnostic session with SDS 2
  • If no device is detected by the SDS within a minute:
    • Replace signal PCB (IA01-430-1420 or IA01-430-1421) according to repair instructions / instructions SDS
 
  1. Testing the battery for deep discharge:
  • With SDS 2 (DTC 66209 – 0102A1)
  • With STIHL SL 100 (according to user manual)
    • Replace the battery if necessary
